VICTORIA FALLS, LIVINGSTONE

ACCOMMODATION AT BUSHBUCK RIVER HOUSE, LIYOYELO FARM
Our African base is in Zambia at Liyoyelo Farm, close to Livingstone and Victoria Falls. Here Bushbuck River House is set in 105 acres of bush, on the banks of the Zambezi. Bushbuck has been fully refurbished during 2004/2007 and facilities in the main house are en-suite rooms. There is a swimming pool and pool house and a tree house/viewing platform. It is an individual, quiet and relaxing place to stay.
Located approximately 16km from the centre of town the house gives easy access to Livingstone, whilst also providing a tranquil and secure enviromnent. As it is the first property beyond the National Park there are frequent sightings of bushbuck, waterbuck, elephant, hippo, duiker, buffalo, cape clawless otter, vervet monkey and baboon. Night sightings of mammals have included scrub hare, thick tailed bushbaby and porcupine. A recent bird survey listed 180 species within the ground and immediate surroundings, including the shy African Finfoot. If you enjoy walking there is plenty of opportunity to do so, both on the farm itself and, if water levels are low, on one of the nearby islands in the Zambezi.

Pass through two National Park gates (park entry fees are not required) and after crossing the Sinde River (often dry) look for the first 'Lay-by 1km' sign on the left. Take the first track immediately after this sign. The track follows a fence and passes over the railway line, then divides. Take the sharp left and follow the track along the railway line, then round to the right and drive towards the river until you reach the house. From the main road to the house is approx 1km. If you re not driving a 4X4 take care not to ground your car on the dirt road.
FROM KAZUNGULA OR SESHEKE Take the main M10 and continue towards Livingstone. Once you pass over the railway line, which crosses the road, you are quite close to the turning. A few km after this you will see a triangular road sign on your left warning of bends. Turn right directly opposite this. If you encounter the National Park entry gate you have gone too far. The track follows a fence and passes over the railway line, then divides. Take the sharp left and follow the track along the railway line, then round to the right and drive towards the river until you reach the house. From the main road to the house is approx 1km.
