Roger goes Wild in Africa - KwaZulu Natal

Description
We did one small trip during the festive season; a 5 day trip through KwaZulu Natal. Our first port of call was Fugitives Drift Lodge near Dundee that we used and a base while we visited some of the Anglo Zulu and Boer War sites, notably Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift and Blood River.

Set in a fairly substantial game reserve Fugitives Drift Lodge is owned and managed by Dave and Nikki Rattray and Dave’s knowledge of the Anglo Zulu war and particularly the battles of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana is extensive to say the very least. A morning spent on the Isandlwana Battlefield with him is a profound, moving and exciting experience. It’s something that Pat and I have done 6 times now and we‘ve not tired of the story at all as Dave has always a new  bit of information that has just been uncovered or has thought of a new take on some of the many issues that surround this famous battle.

Dave is not able to host all the trips to the battlefields but his team of specialist guides is very capable and knowledgeable, each member offering something a little different.

More information on Fugitives Drift Lodge can be found on their web site: and more pictures of the battlefields at Africa Imagery
